Mission LAYC's mission is to empower a various population of underserved youth to achieve a successful transition to machismo through multi-cultural, comprehensive, and innovative programs that address youths' social, academic, and career needs.
Clarification LAYC provides multi-lingual, culturally sensitive programs in the post-obit areas:

Educational Enhancement programs include standards-based culturally competent year-round tutoring and homework assistance, healthy recreation and fitness, figurer literacy classes, and college preparation.
Social Services programs strengthen the family unit as the principal foundation for youth evolution through counseling, prevention, kid placement, and residential housing.
Workforce Investment programs aid out-of-school youth build the skills they need to obtain and retain meaningful employment through a holistic program of job readiness and life skills training, job placement services, estimator instruction, and training to pass the General Educational activity Development (GED) exam.
Community Health supports the development of individual, organizational, and community capacity to promote health and wellness, build a civilisation of peace, and address problems of homelessness.
Art + Media programs encourage youth to experience the power of their fine art as a means of self-expression and as a tool for exploring customs issues. Creative abilities are developed through classes in fine arts, photography, video, radio, and media production, music, and artistic writing.
Advocacy programs piece of work to influence public policy and practices and social systems that touch on depression-income and minority youth in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
The Promotor Pathway, is LAYC's intensive, long-term relationship-based strategy to meet the multiple needs of the region's most vulnerable youth: asunder young people. These youth are likely to be homeless or in foster care, have substance abuse or mental health problems, exist involved with the criminal justice arrangement or gangs, have dropped out of school, or exist unemployed. The Promotor Pathway is undergoing a random consignment evaluation conducted past Public/Private Ventures and has received national recognition as part of the Social Innovation Fund through Venture

Awards Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton congratulated LAYC for 45 years of service in the community before Congress on April 26, 2013.

Named one of 25 Top Nonprofit Organizations by Hispanic Business organization Mag.

LAYC selected as one of the 100 nearly impactful organizations by S&I 100, a national index of top nonprofits creating social impact.

LAYC's Fine art+ Media House 2nd Nature programme, a collaboration with the National Park Service, National Uppercase Region, received the Department of Interior's Partners in Conservation Award.

Pancho Gonzalez Youth Tennis & Teaching Academy received the Legg Mason Outstanding Sportsmanship Award for positive attitude and good character for their participation in the Legg Bricklayer'southward Annual Stars of Tomorrow Junior Challenge and was named USTA/Mid-Atlantic Section's Community Plan of the Year and USTA/DC WTA Organization of the Year.

MMYC received All-time Corps Award by National Council of La Raza and Corps member José Ortez received the Raul Yzaguirre Outstanding AmeriCorps Member of the Yr Laurels. DC AmeriCorps member Verónica Vásquez honored past DC Mayor Vincent Grey at National AmeriCorps Week celebration.

Finalist, Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.

Participation in Social Innovation Fund, White Firm initiative to leverage support for high-performing nonprofits, through Venture Philanthropy Partners youthCONNECT project, to back up the Promotor Pathway for disconnected youth.

Awarded Open up Gild Institute grant for Promotor Pathway.
